Born in the aftermath of Anna Hazare’s ‘India Against Corruption’. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was committed to offer clean & alternative politics. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal always proclaimed to fight alone treading in the unchartered territory. But, he contradicted his stance when AAP formed government in Delhi with Congress’ support and now Kejriwal seems hard to steer an anti-centre movement collaborating with various regional outfits.
Nurturing his political ambition at the national level, Kejriwal is seen getting cozy with various regional political outfits – be it Trinamool Congress (TMC), Janta Dal (U) or Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Kejriwal had attended the swearing in ceremony of Nitish Kumar as Bihar’s Chief Minister where he drew flak for sharing the dais and hugging RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav who is also the ally of Janta Dal. Kejriwal faced much of criticism as Lalu is considered as epitome of political corruption and Kejriwal had spearheaded a campaign against corruption.
Afterwards, Kejriwal attended swearing in ceremony of newly inducted West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamta Banerjee and personally requested her to campaign for his party in Punjab, which goes to poll early next year. The TMC chief committed to him that she will campaign for AAP in Punjab and now she has officially confirmed that.
It is noteworthy that TMC Chief has hardly campaigned outside Bengal and first time she would be campaigning for any other party. Not easy to mend her ways, Banerjee is known for taking her own course. Aligning her with AAP, it might be a big achievement by AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal but it also speaks volume about his political ambitions.
A vicious anti centre chemistry is brewing up within AAP and TMC and they also planning to forge a federal front to target BJP in 2019 general elections. They are already in talks with RJD, JD(U) and NCP and feel that BJD and National Conference in J& K would be perspective allies.
Birds of same feather flock together and AAP and TMC are perhaps vying for same goal of attaining the centre stage at the nation level. TMC will be finally allotted land by AAP for building the party office in national capital.
