Theatrics and cheap antics offered by Aam Aadmi Party has surely added a dash of humor to the forthcoming assembly elections in Punjab. Stand-up comedian and AAP MP from Sangrur might be the biggest crowd puller in the party but time and again he has displayed from his actions that he is a complete misfit in serious business of politics.
After series of controversies over his misconduct of alcohol issue, he raked up a storm by live streaming the security checks at Parliament. Holding him guilty of putting the security of Parliament House and its occupants at risk, a parliamentary committee probing the videography issue has recommended his suspension.
The committee in its report has held that the conduct Mann was “highly objectionable” which shows him “bereft of basic knowledge, etiquettes and responsibilities of the office he holds”.
A nine-member team headed by BJP member Kirit Somaiya was formed to probe into security breach caused by AAP MP. The committee tabled the report in the parliament and stated that Mann’s apology saying his statements to the panel were contradictory with the MP from Sangrur denying the charge that he had breached the Parliament’s security arrangements.
The report also said that there are some serious issues about Parliament’s security, which need to ne addressed on priority.
Never in the history of parliament, it happened that all the MPs joined in to lodge a complaint against a sitting MP including his own party colleagues. 3-4 MPs sitting close to him had complained to speaker in writing against his alcohol problem.
A committee was thus formed to take a decision on sending him to a de-addiction centre, as his “drinking problem” was believed to be demeaning the stature of parliament house.
